Default Caravan trans help....

I just bought a 1994 Grand Caravan SE on the cheap. It runs pretty good, has about 126k, the only problem is that it has no REVERSE. The transmission sounds like it's engaging when I put it in reverse but it just won't go anywhere. All the other gears seem to be fine. Any help would be appreciated.

bad news charlie brown, you have typical seal failure, internal trans. Since all the other gears work I would guess the rev seals in the input hub are leaking.

I found a transmission pretty cheap today. How hard would it be to replace it?
Thanks again!

Pretty easy on a hoist with a trans jack. At home on the driveway---I don't know about that, the trans is in there at a very steep angle and requires a bit of "finese" to get evrything to drop in place. At the dealer we only charge about 550 labor and thats at 135/hr. You could probably find an independent to do the job for a few hudred bucks.
