97 3.0l
I have always been a 3.3l owner. Are there any common flaws to the mitsubishi 3.0l to deter me from buying one. I have a chance to get a really clean 97 grand voyager. Were the valve guides still smokers in 97? Thanks for any input I can get.
p.s.I hear the pcv valves are next to impossible to change on these (lol)

As far as the Engine goes, my grandpa said that I guess they fixed the problems with the 3.0L in 1992 or 1993. What I can tell you is that he rebuilt my grandmas 1990 Caravan 3.0L at appx. 150K miles, and we junked the van after the transmission gave out (and the side of the van was caved in from an accident a year before) at 295K miles (it was not the original transmission, but it was the second, and used, 3-speed in there, he bought the van because it was not a 4-speed!) Actually, the engine is still in the garage (waiting to be put in his older Voyager)
The 3.0L coupled with the 3-speed in that van would average 23-25MPG highway.
I'd say jump on it... from your sig, it looks like you know all too well how totally awesome (sarcasim) some of Chryslers 4-speed automatics can be.
