Default '05 3.3L Caravan Perfomance

OK, this sound dumb to me, but is there any "chip" or plug in box or some electronic gizmo that give the engine a little kick in the rear? I find it hard to drive our van after a trip in my pick up or even my work truck. Grant you I'm a diesel head so I'm really looking for power without the downshift sending the tach into orbit. Plus my wifes foot is as heavy as mine, I know she'd like the boost.

Thru search, ive found exhaust mods <not going to happen>,and Intake mods <might happen>. I would like to see a genuine performance mod directly effecting the engine.

What are typical gasser gains? 30? 60? Is 90-100hp modest as for my truck? (riiiiight....)

only thing i could think of would be make your own custom c.a.i , ive looked at my moms van (3.8L albeit) and you could pop out a fog light and make it interesting

Oh well. I was hoping for somthing to increase the injector PWM, perhaps even play with the timing a little. It would be nice to damaticly raise the tourque curve, and move its peak down a bit.

Its not all that bad right now, but it would be great if the damn tranny would stay put. I think it downshifts un-neccesarily. I might guess there is no such thing as a trans controller that keeeps TC locked more and makes the trans behave itself?

Am I askin too much for somthin that dont have gears and does have spark plugs??

nah, they have 3 separate timing signals for each pair of cylinders, & you don't need to increase the injector PW, these things have plenty of fuel at WOT, arond 12-13:1 A/F ratio

& the trans, A604, or AKA 41TE self adjusts to the driving style of the driver, so if you drive aggressivly all the time, eventully it'll start shifting higher, & a little more aggressive

Yeah.... familiar with the OBDII driver learning. I dont usualy drive the van, but my wife and I are both, well, "aggressive" sounds like such a strong word.... As long as it gets the hell on down the road she doesnt care how it gets there. I let it up shift then re-squeeze the throttle, it feels like theres pull power in the 3000rpm area, you just cant open the throttle and let it work. I can see why, though, for a number of reasons. I know the EPA's idea of the perfect diesel P/U has an Auto trans and runs 3000+ rpm under load consistently-- easier to controll emmision.

So If I can stuff more air into the engine, or suck more in, in this case, would the ECM attempt to maintain the stych. ratio? More air= a bit more gas, and presumably more tourqe? I think I forgot that we're breathing natrual here, just adding fuel would help much anyway, would it?

theres plenty of fuel to support typical exhaust & intake mods

i even ported the heads on my '94 & still had plenty of fuel according to the O2, it was pegged out

I feel your pain. My mother's Caravan drives me nuts when I have to drive it when she comes to visit me. With the hilly conditions the transmission doesn't understand the concept of make a decision and stick with it. The problem is they made the Cruise Controls too precise and the transmission is too responsive for my taste. In my Intrepid, it is willing to accept and lose a little speed (+/- 1-2 mph for a second) on the cruise control and the design of the 42LE in my Intrepid is more relaxed as well.

A long time ago I tried to fix that problem and I was able to help it a little but not much. I added a K&N drop in air filter and that cut down on the downshifting over the smallest bumps in the road but that's about it. I wish I could give you more advice, but the only thing I know of is a lower restriction exhaust or C.A.I. If you discover anything, I'd love to find it out.
