3.0s are okay if you wanna keep fixing them
3.3s will go well over 200K without much maintenance, & are faster too more overall & peak torque to get our boxes moving along
plus the 3.0s don't respond to modifications well, while IME the 3.3s love to play

The 3.3L will outlive the 3.0L from what I have observed. I can think of at least 20 examples of the 3.3L lasting over 200k with zero problems. I can't think of one case of the Mitsubishi lasting that long without needing some serious repairs. My family has had both engines and the 3.0L Mitsubishi almost chased us away from Chrysler for good. The 3.3L has helped to made amends with our family.
The 3.3L is better suited for the minivans than the 3.0L is. The 3.3L offers good low-end tq to get the minivan going. The OHV design which the 3.3L has is better for heavier vehicle than the SOHC design the 3.0L has.

I've owned a '90 3.0 and a '96 3.0 and both were leaking/burning oil by 80K miles. The '90 blew a head gasket at 90K and I sold it. The '96 made it to 135K and the mileage had dropped to about 16 mpg and I dumped it. Keep in mind that I changed oil every 3 months, regardless of miles, and it never had even 3K on a change. Any other car I've owned would be spotless with those miles.
I now have a '97 3.3 and it runs fine at 85K miles---no leaks, pulls much better from a light, and the mileage is no less than 20 mpg (over 23 on the hwy). I would highly recommend the 3.3L.
