I have a 96 Caravan and the outside sliding door handle does not open the door when pulling on the handle, if you press the button on the inside it opens

Mine started like that, now the passenger side slider is really difficult to open. It won't open from the inside without pushing the handle, then the button. Drivers slider works fine. I'm certain it's worn parts inside the door, but I haven't even looked to see how to get it apart to look.

 

there is a small rod that connects the inside and outside openers. on that rod is a small clip like thingy that gets loose. open the panel and try to tighten it, it worked for me.
