Default 2001 Grand Caravan "P0601" code

Does anybody know this code? My 2001 Grand Caravan 3.8l engine light came
on a few days ago. I took it to a friends garage and threw it on the code reader
had a P0601 code. (Internal control module/memory check sum error) Has anyone ever
experienced this code? Any help appreciated!

You'll need to replace the PCM (internal problem)

Has anyone had this code on anything else, besides the caravan. I've got a Dodge Ram Wagon3500 and this code showed up recently. Is it possible to flash the bad PCU with new software and not have to buy a new PCU?

What about ignoring it? My Caravan has one and the dealer said if we only use it for local driving to just ignore it. If the PCM does fail causing the car to die, replace it then. Otherwise he said people drive around with that code for years and nothing goes wrong.

Try doing a flash first, If it doesn't work, then you need to replace the PCM anyway.

I have a 2001 Caravan with the same error (Internal control module/memory check sum error)

How do you flash the computer?

Thanks,
Tom McKinney
