Challenger SRT-8 option News Release
The Dodge brand announced pricing today for the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT®8. The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for this modern interpretation of the American muscle car is $37,995, which includes $675 destination. Due to unprecedented demand, Dodge dealers will begin taking orders on Dec. 3 for the limited edition Challenger SRT8. Each coupe will feature a numbered dash plaque and a 6.1-liter HEMI® V-8 engine. The car will be available in black, silver and HEMI Orange. All will feature dual carbon-fiber hood stripes, harkening back to the original Dodge Challenger. "The 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 offers pure American pony-car muscle," Jim Press, Vice Chairman and President, said. "With styling that stays true to Challenger's original heritage, an abundance of modern amenities and cutting-edge technology, the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRST8 will deliver the SRT credo of benchmark performance at a tremendous value."

Still no mention of transmission offering. The buzz has been only automatics, but I was wondering if it would be different for SRT-8...apparently not.

I posted this question to my buddy in the SRT group. I will see if he answers. I do know that there certainly will be a manual trans. offered at some time. I am working on the production line assembly equipment to install it to the engine.
UPDATE:
Your suspicions are true. The 2008 3/4 model SRT-8 will have an automatic trans. The 2009 will come with an optional Viper 6 speed manual with dual disc clutch. Same tranny as Viper with mods for mounting clearances. This news straignt from some SRT guys in the know. FYI.

Thanks CSX,
I suspect the color options will expand by '09 as well. I'm hoping they are considering a shaker system or other special options by that point as well...perhaps hint to your SRT bud

Too badI don't have any influence over some of their ideas. Impact colors and shakers would be the first things added. And, even some nice graphics, like a hockey stick stripe or something. Bring back the 'Cuda. But, that will never happen. I haven't heard any rumblings about Plymouth being revived after the Germans killed it. And, a Chrysler Barracuda just don't sound right....
