UConnect Question
I love my 2010 R/T but to my question why in the world would Dodge put in something you can not use?
The radio I have shows the voice command button and the phone button but if pressed says uconnect not installed. Why would they install this radio without this option. Is there any way to get this to work without having to sell a limb?
I have heard there is harness you can install and microphone to make it work but cannot find it anywhere. I thought I would throw it out here for some of you to offer up ideas and knowledge.

The kit needed can be bought and installed at most dealers for around $200. Just like any other option, the car is set up to have it put in rather easily if the buyer wants it compared to having it removed. Some opt not to have to the UConnect feature installed as they will be changing out the radio for an aftermarket one in which the UConnect feature will not work with. So why pay the extra money. Yes there are useless buttons are your head unit, but think of it like this. Unless you renew your satellite subscription, you'll have more useless buttons for that option as well.

As for the mic harness, this would only be for the RHR or RER radios. Look on the lower right corner of the radio faceplate, there will be a 3 digit code there, what is it. If it is RES REQ, REN RHB or RBZ then you will need a Uconnect kit and there is an optional Ipod / USB cable that is recommended even if your not going to use an Ipod. You will need this cable for any Uconnect updates.

Thank You for the insight I will look at the radio tonight when I get out of work to see the model it is. I hate to say this here but our American companies wonder why people do not purchase american products.
1. Warranties are only 3/36,000
2. Most of the foreign companies come with Bluetooth installed
1 example I have a Toyota Tundra Platinum Crewmax this thing has everything you could get at the time at a great price. Plus 2 year Maintenance Free service Bumper To Bumper. My Brother in law works for Dodge and I have told him the same thing.
All that said I really like the car just as with anything there are always some issue with them when you buy. Thanks Again for the information I will post the results when I get home tonight.
Regards
The bumper to bumper warranty have been 3yr/36K for as long as I can remember. Dodge and GM have the best domestic powertrain warranty at 5yr/100K. Ford only goes to 60K. My 07,08 and 09 Dodges have a lifetime powertrain warranty. Kia offers 10yr/100K on theirs, but from what I hear, they try very hard to get out of covering anything.
Thinking back, my 88 Mustang that I bought new was 3yr/36K with a powertrain warranty of 6yr/60K I think. I know it was 60K.
Toyota gives that service to hide recalls and fix undisclosed items while doing your free maintenance rather than facing another costly recall. Their business practices are shady at best.
Dodge did the radio button thing starting in 09 when they consolidated all of the controls into the radios. The UConnect controls on 08-back vehicles were located on the rear view mirror as well as the mic for the bluetooth as they are in my 08 Ram.
Many people never use the stuff, so it saves money to not include it on every vehicle and to charge a little more to the ones that want it. My Wife's 09 Caliber did not have it from the factory, although the 6 disc dvd changer and Musicgate system were options on the car. As part of the deal to buy the car, the dealer installed the Mopar UConnect system for free after ordering in the kit. It works thru the radio just like the factory set-up, but uses a different mic that is not in the mirror.
Chrysler went thru a tough time after being raped by Daimler and had to save every dollar that they could to stay afloat. I'm glad you are happy with your Challenger, they sure are sexy cars!!!
