I have a 2010 R/T Classic in Plum Crazy with a 5 speed Tremec manual. DO NOT buy the manual in ANY MOPAR product with the tired old 6 speed automatic. I also have a 2014 Jeep HEMI Grand Cherokee Summit with the new 8 speed automatic. The only answer for any Dodge Challenger is: 2013 or before Manual. 2014 or after get the sweet 8 speed automatic. I love my manual, but that Hemi with the 8 speed auto shifts way faster than I can.............same tranny as the hellcat by the way. Get the manual!

Bwahahahahaha you're an idiot. The manual trans is a 6sp in these, the older auto is the 5sp. The Mercedes based NAG1 is an awesome trans, granted not ZF 8sp awesome but it's strong and will hold to about 600hp without modifications. The 8sp in the lower vehicles is not quite the same 8sp in the hellcat. Cat gets the 8HP90, others get the 8HP70; they are not interchangeable.
