Default Considering a '14 Challenger SXT. Problems with the Pentastar?

I'm considering trading my '05 Mustang daily driver for a '14 Challenger SXT with about 40,000mi on it. Have been perusing the interwebz and read many horror stories from owners of other 3.6L Pentastar equipped vehicles about heads failing at very low mileage. Some people say this issue was resolved by 2014, but I've seen other reports of it still popping up in vehicles all the way up to 2016.

I like the looks of Challenger and don't desire the additional costs which come with getting a Hemi, but is the Pentastar really as big a piece of junk as I'm being led to believe it is?

i have only seen this on the caravan 3.6L. Maybe bc i see many more 3.6 caravans than challengers
the 2014 challenger has had some collapsed lifters reports but i haven't seen any heads replaced to date.

the pentastar is a great v6 engine. i would recommend it. Its does everything very well...decent power, good mileage and good reliability.
i drove an 2017 awd 3.6 challenger a few months ago...it was fantastic in the snow...yes, people drive challengers in winter.
i also like the 200 equipped with the 3.6...to bad they are going to stop making them.

Default Pentastar Rockarms

The only problems I have heard are about the valve clicking after time and that is usually an excessively worn rocker arm. I have seen videos on line about having them replaced at the dealership. From what I understand it's a hit or miss as to whether it happens or not. I guess it would depend on how hard you drive you car.

Considering the negligible difference in fuel mileage between the six, and the eight, I would opt for the eight every time.

From what I've seen it's a pretty considerable mileage difference, plus up-front cost difference and insurance cost difference. For the kind of driving I do 300hp is plenty sufficient. My 05 Mustang only has 210hp and that's more than enough to get in trouble with on the back roads.
