I read an article stating that the 2017 models were all getting active Exhaust (louder note under heavy throttle). But I can't find any actual dodge literature stating this, and I can't find any information on if it exists or how it works. I have a new 2018, and want to know what I might have, how to check to be sure, before I start making any exhaust changes.

Can anyone shed any light on the topic?

 

Yes, 2017+ all have active exhausts.

The system is software driven based off throttle position and other factors. At startup, valves in the exhaust pipes are open so it's quite loud for 20 seconds or so then you hear them close. At cruise and highway they are closed but open upon throttle. I believe the valves are located between the muffler and resonator so keep that in mind if you are changing the exhaust up. Should be able to see them from under the car.

 

That's what I was hoping! So where are they, so if I do any exhaust work, I don't screw that part up??
