Question 2016 RT scat pack reliability?

I fell in love with that 392 Hemi Scat pack. I worry about the reliability. Have there been any transmission issues. I'm looking for a used one. Maybe somebody that got too many tickets? Lol. So looks like $35 K low mileage is what I want. I'm an old guy. The Vanishing Point era nostalgia. I keep having dreams about this car.
worst thing I did was take a test drive in a new one with shaker hood. Only car I've ever driven that scared me a little. The Hellcat is out of my price range and is probably pushing the limits of the Hemi, thus reducing reliability. I do so love this car!

Other than a few in 2011-12 having lifter issues (warrantied I believe but could be wrong) it's pretty bullet proof. Pretty well optimized for a naturally aspirated engine. The Hellcats aren't any less reliable, they've been heinously overengineered and exhaustively tested. The Hellcats aren't pushing the limits of anything; you can buy a Hellcat based stroker 426 with a 3 liter blower on it from Mopar making 1000hp (google "Hellephant"). If a 392 car scares you then yeah, you'll want to stay away from a 'cat lol.

Magnoom, thanks for your input. 1000 hp? Not for me. I'm a realist and know my limitations. Now to talk my wife into one. A used one that I can still add an extended warranty on. All the electronics nowadays can cost a bunch.

I have a 2012 SRT Charger. If I don't put my foot through the floor on a regular basis, it gets pretty good mileage. Hell, even with 470hp it still gets better mileage than my 5.7 truck lol. Mine has the NAG1 5 speed. 2014 and newer get the ZF 8 speed trans. In addition to better gear split and acceleration, it has another overdrive gear so you're getting the best of both worlds.

Buddy of mine has a 2017 Charger Hellcat, he gets right about 20MPG on the freeway. I think he averages around 14-17....... (unless he lets me drive it, then it drops to single digits. )

Sounds about right, automatic hellcat cars come stock with a 2.65 rear gear and the 8HP90 has a double OD. Don't really need shorter gears with the heinous 1st & 2nd gear that trans has, and it drops the revs nice and low at cruise speed). IIRC the epa hwy rating was 22mpg.

He lucked into a rear differential from a Dodge Demon, so, slightly meaner gears in it. (along with a smaller blower pulley, and a selection of other 'go fast' goodies, including a dyno tune. He is pushing north of 800 HP at this point.)

20 is about right for stock, however 14-17 sounds about right for THAT lol
