6.4 hemi engine swap into 87 cutlass can it be done?
Hi everyone. I have a 2017 Dodge Challenger r/t shaker edition with the 6.4 v8 hemi that I bought at the auction the the challenger was a wreck but the engine is in great shape.I have a 1987 Oldsmobile cutlass that’s was gifted to me it’s basically a shell.million dollar question is can I install the 6.4 hemi into the cutlass and if so what is needed I’m open for all options and advice I need all the input I can get thank you
You can, but, that's gonna be a project. You will need the engine, trans, wiring harnesses, and computers...... Given that the challengers dash is just a display, and gets all of its information from the PCM, gonna have to figger that out as well. Of course, NOTHING is going to match up, so, some serious fabrication work is going to be in order as well.....
Anything can be done, given enough money, skill or both. I feel like if you're asking here then you don't have enough of either.....
At any rate, you will need to select a trans, you will need a standalone system with an e-pedal; Mopar makes one just for these engines, as does Holley. This will alleviate the need for all the other modules the production PCM will demand. You will also need a minimum 58 psi in tank pump. You will need custom mounts for everything as well as driveshaft, unless you decide on some form of GM slip yoke (like a 4L80E) derivative.
Honestly, get yourself a carb converted LS engine, hook it to a 4L60 or 700R4 and BOLT everything in.

How are your fabrication and mechanical skills? Do you have the ENTIRE car at your garage? If you pulled the engine and scrapped the rest, you are gouged. You need all sorts of stuff from the car and there will also be lots of hardware that is hard to find that you will need to reuse.
