I thought there was some pretty good info on the allpar site regarding the plans, too bad no mention of price. Interesting that they did mention possible build numbers of 25,000 for the first production year.
yeah..that "25,000" has been floating around for a while now...however, the 6.1L/mtx only concerns me because it may allow them to REALLY inflate the price...
A 6.1 only model would be a poor marketing decision to say the least as it would appeal to a narrow segment of a potentially huge market. If introduced priced substantially less than the current SRT offerings it would draw sales from those vehicles so you can bet that the price of a 6.1 only Challenger would be priced comparable to the current SRT lineup. That's too far above what most buyers will be willing to pay especially for such an unknown commodity as a first year model. Priced beyond what people are willing to pay alot of these potential customers will turn to "other" alternatives. DCX needs to keep in mind that a lost sale can potentially mean a lost sale for the next 4 to 5 years since alot of people will not return to the new car market until their current car is payed off or payed down substantially. Let's hope DCX does not blow an enormous opportunity to capture a BIG market share in pony cars. They could potentially dethrone the Mustang with this stunning car if they approach it the right way. There at least should be a 5.7 option given for an entry level version of this vehicle if a V\6 model is not produced.
The 6.1 version only may be to get them started, test the waters plus give them time to figure out productions capacity issues we've been hearing about. I'll plunk down my deposit!!
Great news, lets just hope the final production model doesnt get screwed up by stupid management decisions...and lets hope they stay with the overall concept design...
DCX is retarded if they don't offer a v6 version. I'm not Joe or TeeWjay, so ti is a rarity to hear that out of me. it would really be a shame to not have a v6 version....
