I thought the topic was E-body oriented since the comparison is between the Challenger and the Cuda. The A-body Cudas were pre Challenger you are correct but for comparison the production numbers reflect a Dodge and Plymouth that shared their basic platform and therefore would be the correct comparison since both were actually in production from 70-74. Had the Challenger entered production in 64 along with the "Barracuda" then overall production numbers would be relevant. Sorry Tom didn't mean to step on your toes! Trivia: What year was the first 'CUDA package offered?

Not a problem at all..... you pretty much said exactly what I would have; those were strictly E-body numbers- NOT A-body! Might just as well compare apples with apples, not oranges. And the first 'Cuda PACKAGE was offered in '69.... however, it was not a seperate VIN series until 1970!

This is why I love being a Mopar fan. Debates can be endless. I have an old-timer ready to retire in my shop, he told us a story of a 2wd D100 pickup that came through with a 440. (maby like late sixties or early seventies).

He says whatever they had on the line, 318's or sixes, if they ran out they would stuff whatever was closest in it. LOL He says he has seen Dodge and Plymouth badges on the same car. [sm=alcoholic.gif]

So I'm going to order mine with Challenger on one side, and Cuda on the other. Hell, might as well throw a Duster badge somewhere too.

HOLD ON JUST A MINUTE. Too bad YOUR numbers are inconclusive also. The Barracuda was in production years before the Challenger......and is a more recognized name. By the time the Challenger hit the road, (1970) it was ME TOO for Dodge. You didn't count those production numbers of the Cuda. Also, the Challenger name was on a rebadged Mitsubishi in the late seventy's. That was sad.

It wouldn't keep me from buying one, but I'd like Hemi 'Cuda on the deck lid. I work for a dealer, and Chargers are NOT flying out the door. And our dealer is #1 in New England in Charger sales.
Um... He was comparing them within the years they were BOTH being produced. I think he knows it was produced before that.

During the time they were both produced. It was Challenger > 'Cuda

Yeah, yeah, I know. If I knew were going to debate body codes I wouldn't have bothered. Just pray they make the damn thing![sm=closed.gif] The post was asking for opinions, not hard data. Be good everyone and if you don't have Rosary beads, get some and pray! LOL

Merely supplied the hard data to back up my opinion. And face it.... the stylists had a '70 Challenger in the studio when they designed the concept- NOT a Cuda; a name change at the point as you suggest would require a total redesign of the body. Don't see that happening now.

It's cool, I can see your point clearly and respect that completly[sm=deal.gif]. I guess we should just be happy they are not calling it a Volare Sport. I still cant believe thay resurected 'Aspen" for the Chrysler divisions SUV.[sm=icon_beat.gif]

i thought that the Volare Sports were cool...F-bodies OWN!

but seriously, the only sales this thing is going to steal from mustang, if the rumors are true about product, are a few mopar guys who were going to be a GT500...sicne theyre going to grossly overprice this car if its a limited edition model...[:@]
