this size class" makes no difference...the challenger isnt supposed to be a full sized car...its a coupe, and who the hell want a "full sized coupe"? the idea of a "coupe" is to be sporty, and fast, not be able to haul the family around...

the challenger weighs 4160lbs! so with the 350hp 5.7L, it MIGHT keep pace with the 300hp, 3300lb mustang? also, i dont know who your "sources" are, but the charger RT starts at 31,000, and the srt-8 starts at 38,000...i have spoken to someone around the challenger development and he has said that it will "probably be priced around the same as the charger lineup"...but that only proves my point...paying more to go slower? he also said that "the challenger with the 6.1L will likely cost a little more than the srt-8 charger or magnum".

Charger SRT-8 starts at $35,320 http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Sp...rger&trimid=-1, that also the price I read in an SRT booklet. But my point is the Challanger is much bigger then a Mustang, you can accually have someone sit in the back, that will sell to alot of people.

The 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T w/the 440 six pack I used to sit in the backseat of as a skinny teenager did not have gobs of room. It wasn't built as a family car......hence, the two doors.

right, because alot of people who buy a mustang or camaro/fireturd/gto are worried about the backseat room...

they dont need to make the backseat nice and big! they already make a bunch of sedans for that...the idea of a high horsepower rwd coupe is for performance, not for hauling around people. if you want to haul people around, buy a charger,..or magnum...or 300...or caliber...or GC...i could go on and on...

the bottom line is that its time for dodge to finally step up and give mopar enthusiasts a reason not to go elsewhere to buy a REAL performance car.

and when did autos.msn become the source for auto info? i got my information from dodge.com from the site, copied and pasted:
Base MSRP: $38,095

I'd like to see a brand new SRT-8 any model sitting on a lot stickered for 35k, doubtful, possible.....but doubtful. The main reason the Mustang is enjoying its best years right now is because there isnt a single 2dr coupe that can match it power/cost wise. The GTO is dead, the Camaro is dead, Dodge hasnt had a car that was worth a spit in 2dr form since the Stealth TT and even that wasnt a Dodge.....(I'm obviously excluding the Viper for monetary cost).

Dodge could sell these things like hotcakes....and make a lot of money....but if they price it stupidly.....it will only make things worse. For 35k, I can get a Cobra or a GT500....or even a slightly used Corvette....why would I want a slower, bulkier Challenger?
