twice last week my R/Tdidnt start up after turning the key. It did turn over the next try. Sounds like it's trying, usually just starts right up immediately. I hear it trying for like3 seconds.

I know the easy answer is take it to the dealer before it leaves me stranded somewhere. I have just over 5k miles. I think it's eitherbattery, starter, alternatorproblem....but, i'm not sure.

Just curious if anyone here has any thoughts?

It could be one or more of the items you mentioned, the alternator would lend to battery issues but it's the easiest to check with a volt meter.

It could also be: solenoid, ignition switch, starter relay, transmission range sensor or park/neutral switch.

When you say "I hear ittryingfor like 3 seconds" what does it sound like (i.e. clicking or grinding)?

 

It sounds more like grinding then ticking. I will listen more closely next time for a better description.

If it was clicking or ticking I believe it would lend to a solenoid issue.
