Default Break in Period?

Well i am very excited since i took delivery of my 2007 Dodge charger R/T with the Road and Track package yesterday afternoon with 10 miles on the clock. I wanted to see the negative effects that not breaking the motor in properly could have on the motor? I drove it off the lot with 10 miles and before i put a 100 mileson it i had it up to so "Unlawful speeds" What if any negative side effects am i looking at long term/short term here?

I also purchased this afternoon a simple K&N OEM replacement filter just to help it breath a bit, any input?

Sounds like your doing the right thing. Take her out during the first 300 miles and give her short burstsat WOT. That should provide a tightseal between the rings and the cylinders. Drive it like you stold it, burn the tires stop and do it again.

I still have the drop-in K&N filter I initially used, it will let her breath better thank stock filters.

Go for it! The old myth of being easy on the engine for several hundred miles is actually bad advice. You should go easy for the first 25 miles, then start to hit it with short hard bursts from a slow (but not stopped) speeds. My SRT book from Dodge is the first OEM manual I have seen that actually addresses this correctly. It says to make several WOT runs from a slow speed (within legal limits of course). Bottom line, have fun, your Charger will love you for it!
