E85 means 105+ octane
Warm winter people shouldn't write posts to guys who live in winter states... LOL.
You must not live in MN. That's what how winter is spelled according to the local indians: Minnesota. LOL. E85 does not get like glue.E85 is alcohol (ethanol) based and is used in most of our fuels nowadays and sorry to inform you Frenchy, it does not thinken like glue -- LOL.
You probably have ran it as the "middle" blend at the pump: 10% blend is common almost every where. E85 is only 15% gasoline, is thin and watery just like regular fuels and has a high evaporation rate but because of the octane rating, it burns slower (thus keeping down detonation, er, pinging). There are so many turbo guys switching over to it because of the high octane rating.
Get a grip Frenchy...

ethanol is a precious resource to save fuel
but we are presently wasting
using it as a blend to gasoline
and making it from corn (instead of sugar cane or sugar beets).
This is due to the politics of special interests like ADM and Cargil companies.
Huge amounts of tax money has been diverted.
Here's the way to get the greatest benefit
by using ethanol as a directly injected octane improver
in future engines:

Hank,
"Huge amounts of tax money has been diverted". Really? At least it'sbeing diverted to an important project this time: alternative fuels.
I hope we pour huge amounts more into it... I hope we pour so much into it, we can stop buying imported oil...
What's the beef with using sugar beets or corn? Use what ever we can! It's a fact our farmer's can growMORE food than we can super-size in our meals... there is so many set-aside acres in CRP acres (acres that are we paying farmersnot to produce acrop on them) that we could turn that into productive acres next year or two and grow so much you could drown in sugar beets or corn... we have LOTS of it here in my county.
As far as paying taxes, sure there is a lot wasted, but more is used for the good and, besides,I like my life here. I can't think of a better place to live: and I say it with a full stomach and aDaytona Charger with a fulltank.
