Hot PIPE
I jsut recently changed the air filter on my Mopar cold air pipe. It really feels liek the car is loosing HP.
When I pop the hood to check the fit the PIPE was burning hot.
Could just be the heat in Austin TX. It was 90 yesterday.
I dont rememeber the PIPE getting that hot with the other air filter.
Anybody have this issue w/ their CAI set ups?

RE: Hot PIPE
Temps been running 95+ here. Those pipes will get hot, depending on the material their made of they should cool off fairly quickly.
You can cook meals under the hood so that pipewill run just under thetempature the engine is throwing off.
What T-stat are you running and do you have any fan mods?

Big Banana,
You running your engine cover on? Also, did you read my old post about running fresh (cool) air to the air cleaner? I, in fact, just got back from a80 mile trip in 95 degree and humid air, at 70 mph. Pulled in the garage, and I always open the hood to let her cool off. When I touch the chrome top on the air cleaner area (I have a K&N) it was cool. Not at all hot. The K&N's plastic pipe was hot near the engine (of course), but cooler as you got toward the air cleaner area.
Also, I never have ran any fancy fan switches or cooler thingy's -- my Daytona doesn't seem to get hot even in traffic -- the temp gauge stays the same. Works for me.

RE: Hot PIPE
If I can find my old post, I'll repost it for you... with some patience, you'll be able to get fresh outside air to the CAI's air cleaner without getting it wet. Also, just a simple thing, is to open your hood when you are at home and done driving to let her cool off; that hood's heat cover seals the heat in like an oven, and there isn't much of a way to get it out, except behind the engine downward -- which is the opposite where heat wants to go.
