Mopar CAI recharge
Hey Folks:
I looked all over for a definitive method for recharging the Mopar CAI with the Mopar recharge kit. I know that the filter is manufactured by K&N, and the best I can figure is that 1.45 oz is the rec'd amount of oil to use (about a shot glass and a half), following the cleaning.
Anybody else know any different? That looked like about enough to evenly spray the filter, turn it blue, but not soak it of course.
Anyway, if there are some directions somewhere, they'd be appreciated....
.SG.

It sounds like you know what it takes, especially the part about not soaking it.
In the past K&N had instructions on the recharge kit box, but it would be old news to you.

Interestingly enough, I ordered the Mopar recharge kit. It was on national backorder for a week or so. I ordered two -- I usually stock one extra maintenance item for everything (use one, order another). Well, that seems completely unnecessary here, as the one kit should be good for another 6 recharges! I bet the cleaning solution is windex.
Anyway, there were some instructions on the bottle -- the basic wash, rinse, repeat stuff. No mention of how much oil to use, just a warning: do not over oil. Well thanks for that. Not enough is bad and too much is worse. It seems a waste to buy a brand new pre-oiled filter everytime, but I know some folks do that to save the headache.
I guess I used about 1.5 oz. I didn't look over-oiled. Sorta like painting -- enough to cover the filter but not soak it down.
Oh well, it runs. Off to get some window tint tomorrow. Apparently Martinsville, VA is the global capital for window tint manufacturing, so people here are pretty fanatical about it, being the flagship installers for Llumar. We'll see.
