I would stay away from the 2.7 engine. I had one in a 2005 Chrysler 300. Loved the car, but was under powered. I traded it in for a 2006 red Charger SXT with the 3.5 Plenty of power, gas mileage is 20-22 around town/highway combo. Best I got on all highway was 27.5 on a trip from Jersey to Va. doing 75-80 mph. The 2.7 engine had alot of problems in the Intrepid, with sludge buildup, and engines having to be replaced at 50-60,000 miles. Shop around to different dealers, don't let them pressure you with " a small deposit to hold the car, because it might be gone when you come back." If you don't care about the color, go shopping at the end of the month ( if you can wait that long) and look for an SXT without too many options. You can use the Dodge website and type in the model, color, etc you want, and they will give you a listing of dealers that have a car as close to what you want in stock in your area. Remember, you are doing them a favor buying the car, not the other way around. If the salesman and sales manager are giving too much pressure, walk away and go to another dealer. Good luck shopping.
Most of theChargers you see in used car lots are the 3.5 SE. I have a 3.5 SE with monthly around 300 I've had it since May. My trade-in wasn't as high as your wife's Itraded my2000 Ford Focus LX for 1500and my credit score wasbetween 660 and 710 so I got a pretty low interest onmy Charger. Make sure you find a good finace company that works good with people who have little orno credit. Don't mess with the 2.7's cause they have problems and havea poor trade-in value. Dodge shouldn'teven madeChargers with 2.7 engines.
Another funny thing was when I traded my Focus for the Charger my insurance also went down $50 or $60 so I thought that was coo
Sometime next year I mite trade my 3.5 for an R/T or the Super Bee.

Naw they won't do that swooping out a 2.7 for a 3.5 cost just as much buying a new car
