2006 Charger Daytona R/T AC
I am new here and thought I would ask if anyone is having a problem with the AC system in their Charger. I have the Top Banana Daytona Charger and since the day that I bought when you first start the AC it stinks. It smell like a musty or mildewed rag is in the vents. It last for a minute or so and then goes away but comes back the next time you start it again. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what was done to get rid of it???

Welcome to the forum edge56.
Look at TSB 2401405, that issue fits it's description.

That is not listed on the Dodge recall page and the dealership keeps telling me that the only thing Dodge says to do is a chemical cleaning of the system and that will take care of it. After three visits the smell is still there and now they suggest that I put listerine or simple green in the vents to take care of the smell. When that wears off puts some more. Told them that ws not a solution and now I can't even get them to tell me who to call at Dodge to get the Tech people involved. Won't give up till they fix the thing

It's not a recall its a Technical Service Bulletin. You can look em up on most forums, here is a third party lookup page http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr.../tsbsearch.cfm
Take the TSB number to your dealership and get their printout from the TSB number. Their printout will have the procedure they are to follow to correct the issue.
They may be telling you the truth or it may be a story. Get the printout so you seeit in person.

I noticed this problem as well. I forgot about it until I read this thread.I have done this to several cars. Spray new car or whatever scent under the glove box and inbetween the instrument panel on the dash between the two seats.I could be wrong but thecondenser is behind the glove box and picks up the scent and stops thesmell. Will have to do this a few times but the smell went away beforeI went through a bottle of 8oz. spray.

This is common for most cars in my experiance. You just need to run fresh air and turn off the AC before you park it. I turn the *** to normal heat and make sure the light turns off and let it run for 30 seconds or so before I park it and you wont get that smell...
