Header Performance
I really like this site. I am a member of numerous other sites and they love to bash the newbie and the rookie. I am both and there has yet to be any bashing.
Mango,I have been through all the header search threads. I note that JBA headers are the number one choice. Is that what the forum is sticking too? What type of HP gain did you really see?
I have K&N FIPK CAI, SC and Borla 112.
I reallydon'tfeel like I have done anything to the car. I feel like a Cobalt could beat me.
Mango you told me I need to get into the engine, I assume you are referring to headers. Since I am notmechanically inclined, I will need someone to install.
The Mopar headers are twice as much as the JBA but the Mopar say they will giveRWHP of 7-10. Is that what you ae seeing with the JBA?
Any other Header recs?
I have a Daytona TorRed 1999
2006 Charger
Thanks

There are a number of headers to choose from. JBA are short tube (ST) headersthat a lot of folks go with. Gibson makes STs as well.
Being in TX you can runlong tube (LT) headers like SLP/Dynatech or mid length headers made by Mopar.
I would recommend going w/Mopars. Normally you will see anything from 10-15 HP from those headers.
Most of the LT headers will come with high flow catalytic converters (CAT). The ST and Mopar headers don't normally come with high flow CATs.
Hope that helps.

For whatever it is worth
I have been trying to compile a list
of 'reliable' shaft dyno results for small block Mopar V8s
So far headers always seem to give at least 3% gains
but seldom give more than a 6% gain.

Yes, it does help. I will go early Christmas shopping for myself this week and willprobably go with the LT headers. I know you have LT headers did it make a difference in the noise level? Placing the Borla 112 actually made the car much quiter because the CAI with the factory exhaustgave it a little extra noise. Can't tell it is running until I jump on it now.
