Default GoManGo on a non-Daytona?

Tonight I had a friendly "encounter" with a Charger that looked dark orange to me. Everything I've seen says any cars that color should be the Daytona R/T, yet this one clearly was not that package. It had no rear wing nor any of the graphic differences. I did catch the Hemi badge on the side. I guess it could have been the dark red color...

Any ideas? FWIW, I did win [8D] I was driving my car (Subaru Legacy GT), not my truck. After seeing my "2.5 GT" badge he probably thought I was an easy victim. He rolled off slowly and just as I thought he wasn't interested, he hammered it around 30 mph. A quick WOT in second put me ahead and the gap increased slowly till around 70. After 80 I was clearly pulling strongly and I called it quits shortly after 100. He passed me and we both went on our separate ways. My car has a few mods and it feels like it'll run ~ 13.0 @ 104-105; haven't been to the track since the mods. I wish we'd gone from the light so I could have used 1st gear!

Your right it probably wasn't a Daytona, it would take some body work and paint to remove the rear spoiler. The graphics can be pealed off easily so that can be deceiving.

The car you saw is the new Hemi orange Daytona for 2008 , go to a dodge dealer and get the brochure you will see it there. One small graphic on the side of the door that says Daytona.

You should also see a rear spoiler on that brochure, that's the only reason I question if it was a Daytona.

I see that you can build a R/T with Torred on the dodge site, that is what it may have been.

I'm sure I would have remembered a spoiler. It was a very clean rear end but I'm almost positive that it wasn't red. It was at night, and I do have HIDs (the normal 4500k, not ricer purple) but I could have sworn it was a dark orange like I've seen on the Daytona Ram. My car is also a darker red color and it didn't strike me as similar.

People with similar mods as mine put down around 275hp and over 320 torque to the wheels. Considering it's always mistaken for a Camry, he was probably pretty surprised.

We can chalk it up asa mystery Orange Charger, I’m not going to sweat it.

320 TQ to the ground is impressive, the charger RT,stock, puts out about 290 +/-.

The more I look at it, the more I realize it probably was a Daytona. This guy's pics from Chargerforumz.com look exactly like what I ran into:

His car doesn't have any of the graphics or blacked out area between the tail lights I've seen on other examples of the Daytona. Granted, he has added the retro emblem and the wing is still there but I guess I could have missed the wing in the dark. After all, I was busy looking at the rest of the car.

We can chalk it up to "mystery solved"!
