I test drove an '06 srt-8 today and loved every second of the ride. I then test drove an '08 R/T and ended up buying it. Price was not a real player (38k for the srt-8 and 35k for the r/t.) I bought the '08 R/T. With most of my driving I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the extra horsepower from the srt-8 and I figured that with the $$ I saved by stepping it down I can put the money to work where I want it. The only things it's really missing are the steering wheel controls for the cd player, and the power of course, but driving it around I got up to speed and around traffic just as easily as I did in the srt-8. If you've got the money then go ahead with the srt-8 but think about all that power going to waste (and gas) during rush hour traffic.

P.S. Warranty was a big player in my descision as well. Lifetime powertrain can't be beat. I also opted for the 5 year extended warranty.

I could be wrong, but I thought the life time warranty was non-transferrable. Check into that to be sure.

You are right the Lifetime warrenty is none transferable. As for the SRT-8 the only bad things are higher insurance- buddy of mine who owned a 12.50 R/T just got a SRT and his insurance is almost 10% higher, higher fuel costs driving in the city good luck getting 300miles to a tank and higher if you stick to 60-65mph you might get 400miles to a tank and its a must to use atleast 91 octane. And lastly if the srt is going to be your only car you'll need some pretty good snow tires if you see snow in the winter. As for modd's the best modd you can do for the car is better rubber. With drag radials I have seen srt owners run 12.8's bone stock, and with just an intake and exhasut hit 12.65's.

I personally have a 06 Charger SRT8 and I tell you what... If I had to do it over agan, I would go with an R/T. The mods out for the 5.7L cars have those guys running circles around my car... I think the quickest 5.7L NA Car ran a 12.00 in November! I cant get my car past the 12.8s!! This guy is almost a full second quicker then me in the 1/4 mile! Granted he is running FRI heads, Cam and I heard he is now doing SRT8 Gear... Its nuts!!

Well Ihighly doubt that that charger R/T is at the same 345ci most likely stroked to atleast 370ci. And alls you need is headers, intake, very mild cam, and a tune and you will run low 12's all day. Or what I would do is just add the headers, intake with a 75shot of nitrous, with a nice set of drag radials and some driving skill and you'll be running high 11's. And just to let you know there are N/A SRT's running 11's. And that R/T owner probably spent atleast 10k to safely get into the low 12's.
