Unhappy Threads

Can't we acess any of the old threads anymore??? I'd hate to see that wealth of information thrown away. I wasn't able to retrieve anything from the simplist searches. -Rob

I'm with you RenoRob. I've just started with my mods and I'm a newbie. I really rely on these forums to get me headed in the right direction. Right now I'm trying to decide what to do with my exhaust. I want a nice low rumble at idle and loud at WOT but without the drone at cruising speed. I was going to delete the resonators and add 3.5" or 4" tips while keeping the stock mufflers, but i'm not sure. I think Mango in TX spooked me in an earlier response when he mentioned drone with this set-up. Has anyone tried SLP Loudmouths or Loudmouth II? Please help, my head is swimming.

All posts are here. Look towards the bottom of your section. You can set the sort and.... The number of days for which you want to view. You will also be able to set these settings in the User CP (link upper left side of site). I think you will find a lot of options you may want to change in the User CP.

The SLP exhausts will drone. What is drone? Some say it is MDS drone but all that is a burbling sound. The "drone" is mistaken for resonance in the cabin.Drop the back seat and se how loud it gets.
What I would suggest is a set of resonator eliminatoers from a company called Allied Muffler . com, I.E. Blastin Bob`s. They come in 5, 7 ,9 and 11 db over stock

Drone is the sound resonance created by the exhaust that some people, including myself, hate.

I saw a thread saying on another forum saying the MDS drone is BS and there wasn't such a thing. From personal experience (chopping resos & adding blastin bob 11db/various mufflers) drone exists it's not something I will debate. I believe the term "mds drone" was born because MDS enhances the drone 10 fold in its own unique way.

I settled into a Corsa catback that cut the drone to nothing. For some my setup is too quite, I like it because the sound is tame at idle and during normal driving but when the pedal is put down it sounds like a beast.

The whole exhaust thing is very subjective, one persons junk is anothers treasure.

You can roll your own or go with a catback. Try to find people with different exhausts and ride around with them and experience their exhaust first hand. You can experiment ($) as much as you like or take your time to find what is right for you and save some Hemi Bucks.

I kinda agree with ya Mango. I have respect for you too.I have seen many of your knowlegable posts. I also have the BB 11db kit on my car. I get a resonance all thru the car with this setup.I had my resonators cut off a week after getting my car. I love a loud musclular sounding car !
All I hear when my MDS kicks on is a sound that sounds like an exhaust that might be under water.

I guess "drone" is different in everyones eyes, or ears

Thanks for the input guys. I'm with you Scott, i want the Hemi to be heard. I just keep hearing so much about "drone" that it's got me worried that it will be too annoying. If it's just in-car resonance from having an aggressive exhaust, I can live with it. Like you said Mango, to each his own. So Scott, is your exhaust system stock except for the B.B. eliminators? I would like to change to high flow cats at some point, but will it be useless to do that if the remainder of the exhaust is stock, save for resonator deletion? I'm installing the Predator 93 CAI tune this weekend. I have the CAI and 180 T-stat. Are aftermarket catbacks a "must-have" to see sufficient results from the Predator? Also, MDS can be deactivated with the predator, correct? Bear with me guys, i'm new at this

For the Blastin Bobs install you chop about 12" past the resos (see pic). Blastin Bob has great products, I enjoyed the 11db pipes while i had them on the car but just couldn't take the resonance drilling through my head.

You will benifit from HF Cats, not much in the begining but with each new mod your performance will get incrementally better.

You will see good gains from the Predator alone and yes MDS delete is an option with that tuner.

Have a fun weekend modding!

I do enjoy my BB kit. I took the suitecase off and had 2 Cherry Bomb Vortex Mufflers installed there and kept the OEM pipe. They were quiet but are getting louder. The resonance is in the 1800 to 2200 rpm range. After that they actually are quiet.

I believe that the stock cats are the most resistance in the system so hi-flows would definately help.

Looks like you are going the right way with your mods.
