Thumbs up Need Advice Please - Driver Side Exhaust Heat Shield for V6 SE

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone installed these before? Mine fell off today because the double sided sticky tape didn't hold. The stock heat shields come with holes to bolt on to the gas tank but the driver side of the tank doesn't have holes. Plus should I be concerned about my gas tank exploding for driving long distance without the heat shield? I'd appreciate any help.

Thanx

I don't think the exhaust will generate enough heat that far back for tank to explode.

Thanks MangoInTX - To my rescue again...

I had the Zoomers exhaust installed a few months ago and the heat shield on the gas tank for the left muffler fell off yesterday. The muffler is right next to the tank and I was wondering if the heat from the muffler could be dangerous?

Thanks again.

I haven't kept up with the CAIs for the v6 but alot will depend on your budget.

Look into the standard K&N, afe and on the top end look at the airhammer.

Thanks man,

Just been looking at the Stage II AFE CAI. Don't like the black pipe but it comes highly recommended. I should start another thread for this, since i have gone off topic. Sorry about that. I had some some pictures of my charger here before the forum changed and looks like my whole post is gone. I didn't post many times but nevertheless... Had a post about my ashtray problem that you helped me with and can't find that one either. Wish I had kept the PDF you attached.

Thanks MangoInTX

Thumbs up

MangoInTX - By the way I found the PDF instructions on how to dismantle the dash. It was lost in all my documents.

This thread is kind of resolved. I had Ron at zoomers stick the heat shield back on the gas tank. This time with some extra addhesive. Hopefully it'll hold longer. There is no other way...

Many thanks.
