charger rt brakes
Does anyone have any information on good upgrades to the charger rt 2006 brakes?
I was at the dealer the other day asking if the srt8 brakes could be put on and he did not recommend it saying that several customers did this, as well as outside brakes and there was a problem due to caliper piston differences (2 vs. 4 or even 6) and that the lines were not large enough even if the master cylinder was changed. lastly, they said the steering knuckles would need to be changed.
For me, brakes were always one of the weak spots on the car. Even though I have had the mopar performance parts added, brakes are still weak (high speed braking).
Any help or experience greatly appreciated.
I have 20" wheels on it, so larger caliper clearance is not an issue.

SRT8 brakes can be put on an R/T but you also have to put other SRT8 suspension parts on the R/T. Here's a shopping list: Front Calipers/Rotors/Spindles/Hubs, Rear Stub Axles/Hubs/Rotors/Calipers.
I have a local friend that has done this to his 06 GoManGo.
If you can find used SRT8 parts it will cost around 2K, that's for the parts. If you go with new parts, DCX SRT8 parts or after market, it's going to cost some major Hemi Bucks (4-5K <= low-ball).
Good luck on your quest!

The R/T has twin-piston calipers in front and single-piston calipers in back.
As far as parts choose your poison...
Pads: Hawk, Posi, EBC, Wagner...
I put Wagner on mine and havn't had any issues and the wheels are much cleaner now without all the stock pad dust.
Rotors: AP Racing, Brembo, Powerslot...
I'm running stock rotors and have not had any issues.
You can upgrade to an after market system (calipers, rotors & pads) but the cost is going to be like upgrading to SRT8 brakes, mucho Hemi bucks.

I was browsing a vendors web site today and found a front brake caliper upgrade kit for around 800.00. It's a 3 piston caliper upgrade with pads.
I'll PM a link to you.
