Dodge Charger The Dodge Charger. The car that made its competitors shiver in the 60's is reborn in 2006 into a sleek sedan that can still send the competition home wimpering, the Dodge Charger.

Default New guy, New car, New problem....

Ok, so I'm new here, so first off I would like to say hello to everyone! I've never owned a dodge before (except a 91 stealth TT that I rebuilt and sold) so I don't know much about the problems with these cars. Anyhow, I have an 08 Charger SXT 3.5L that I bought about 3 weeks ago. It had 5 miles on it when I picked it up from the dealership and has had a vibration ever since. I've had it to the dealer 3 times in the past 3 weeks and they can feel the vibration, but cannot pinpoint where it is coming from. It vibrates the car, but not so much in the wheel. I've done all the usual tests (visual, making sure everything is tight, seeing if the wheel would move for bad ball joints or tie rods, I've even had the wheels balanced and rotated just in case, etc...) and I have found nothing wrong. The odd thing is, it gets worse at times, and it is better at other times. Twice since i've had it, it shook so bad it felt like a tire was gonna fly off the car. I just started college for Automotive Technology, so I'm going to take it in to the school and get it up on a lift, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem so I could get a good place to start looking. I'm going to diagnose it and then take it to the dealership and have them fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks!

ive seen cars with tire-based vibrations that got worse as the tires changed temperatures... can you tell if its coming from the front or rear? perhaps rotate the tires and see if it changes any?

do you have a blown 02 mustang?

Welcome to the forum blown02GT!

I agree with BadStratRT, this sounds like a tire issue.

I had a 02 mustang GT a couple years ago that i planned on throwing a blower on, but never got it done hehe

Thanks for the welcome! I've rotated the tires already and had them re-balanced. I just got back from the shop AGAIN and they said they are pretty sure it's the rear axle nuts.. personally, i think they are taking stabs in the dark, but i guess it's possible. As far as if it's coming from the front or rear, I'm pretty sure it's the middle or the rear, it vibrates the car, not the steering wheel by itself. I had originally thought tires too, so I think i'm gonna take my fiance's rims and tires off her caliber and see if they'll fit and try that. Thanks for the advice guys.. just didn't wanna go through the work of doing that if I was way off base

Welcome to the forums.
I'm curious, does it happened at normal driving? Or on the highway? Try taking it to a different dealer.

I do mainly highway driving and i've taken it to 2 different dealers. I just got off the phone with them again and now they think it's something in the transmission which also makes sense. I'll keep you guys posted on what is going on.. Thanks again!
