Badstratrt- your right if a person is not a great shifter thier better off w/ an automatic, but if an auto is tuned right you could never **** faster than it. But we're taking about your average auto so your right.
Maybe becuase the altima and maxima are big sedans you can compare them to the charger but power wise its not happening, diff league.

i think what you meant was "in case you dont know how to shift, the auto in the charger is better."
there is a reason that the manual GTO is faster than the auto GTO...and there is a reason that the Manual Cobra and GT are faster than the auto GT and cobra (if available)...
find me a car that has put out better performance numbers with an auto than with a stickshift.
and more horsepower doesnt mean much...the charger is a bigger heavier car, and you cant take horsepower as a comparision, you have to take lbs per horsepower...im sure the charger is lacking heavily there. also, sport suspension and gearing are not being taken into consideration, whick im SURE the GTO and Cobra have the defined advantage...
dodge has not made a mucle car...they have made a sedan. you want a fair comparison, compare it to the Maxima or altima SE-R...not a bunch of hipo coupes.

Personally, I can't wait to see the Charger SRT-8 as well as the Shelby Cobra GT500 , but I hope they make the GT500 in a color other than red... Both great cars, one a direct link to the past (Mustang obviously) and the other, well ... a modern evolution. I currently have a brand new Magnum RT but I have a feeling that it will turn into one of the above vehicles around this time next year. After a few weeks with the magnum I am starting to feel like the mid 30 something I truly am instead of the 20 something I want to feel like when driving.
Don't get me wrong, the magnum rocks and is the perfect all purpose car, but it is spoiling me rotten in gadgets, comfort, quiteness and utility! In short, it is making me feel old!

by far the cobra the car has 450+ HP and is lighter then both (it also looks better)

the cobra is a piece of crap.
frogslinger...link me to where it says that the new GTO is faster in an automatic. i know someone with a 6.0 GTO...he actually is a member here....and it is an automatic...runs 13.50s. the manuals are into the 12s.

About the CHARGER, we will all have to wait and see how the SRT-8 does.... Can't assume anything
for a retro look, the mustang certainly takes it, hands down. but for the performance aspect, id take the 6.0 GTO no questions, if i were to buy a non-DCX vehicle. for the price, i dont think there is a question that the GTO is better
If I were a non MOPAR fan I would also go with the GTO, it's a definite fresh look and has the room of the Stratus coupe and my Venge. The Stang is just in the way of no comfort in the rear unless you're a box of beer and the two don't go good together. These two are 2dr coupes though, it's not really a good comparison with the Charger in there, true it has 425 horses (at the crank) but it's still a 4dr and a bad comparison IMO. Anyway, since I am a MOPAR fan I am going with the Charger SRT8 and I'll take mine in black please.

Oh yeah and kudos for the blue oval to bring in the retro look so well, but new is for me
