which is faster charger or impala?
I read that too. But it says "Chevy says it will go 0-60 in 5.7". Which if you look at these specs below, is complete non-sense. BTW The SS is not RWD either.
2006 Dodge Charger R/T: 345 hp, 4100 lbs (LBS per HP - 11.88)
2006 Chevrolet Impala SS: 303 hp, 3712 lbs (LBS per HP - 12.25)
As you can see, the Charger has the lbs/hp ratio edge and is RWD. If the Charger does it in 5.6, how in the heck does the SS do it in 5.7. It doesn't make sense at all.

New member here. I bought a '06 Charger R/T in July. Traded a 2004 Corvette convertible if you can believe that![:-] Anyway, back in .94 I bought a new Impala SS. Great car but it had some issues. It must've been built on a Monday! Then I got into Vettes so I sold it.
I drove early 9C1's in the NYPD and liked them so last year I picked up a '95 9C1 LT1 Caprice. It was a PSP unmarked Investigator's car. No spots or holes anywhere in the body. It has 114,000 miles on it and it does run. When Chrysler came out with the RWD Hemis I was very interested. Chevy has fallen by the wayside and finally someone picked up the ball. When the Charger came out I decided that's the one for me.
It reminds me so much of the SS. Will the Charger outrun the LT1? Sure but who cares? A little motor work though and it will give the Charger a run for its money. Figure a few thousand for the car and a couple of grand in goodies and you got a runner.
In 94 the SS stickered out at $25,000 with the dealers $1000 "adjustment". My Charger cost me $31,000 which isn't bad after 11 years.
I still use the Caprice when I go into the "city"
here. There are some crappy areas I wouldn't want to take the Dodge and the car scares the skels.

i have substantially less into my car than the price of the older impala SS or the new charger RT and i can destroy either of them...and technically, i only have bolt ons, and some minor engine upgrades.

hey how it going im a new member but i drivea 68 charger and a 95 caprice ss off topic but everyone is putting the wrong cars in a class where they dont belong your talking about putting a neww ss impala against a charger r/t or not but theres no comparison there because chevy killed the impala muscle cars image after 96 if you want a good race go with any charger (new) with the new muscle car and pace it with the new GTO impala dosent have the power and to wimpy to even wonder who would win so that would be the good race the charger vs impala ss is like racing a vw bug with a vette.

By the way, your posts would be easier to read with a little puntuation
