Default 2012 Charger with 8 speed tranny???

Hey guys, im lookin for a little bit of advise from some of you that may already have these. Im considering trading my pick up for a 2012 charger (a sxt plus i beilve?) its a really sharp car its got all the works. I have never owned a car in my life but with gas climbing to possibly 5 dollars a gallon this summer it has now been a serious consideration. I do like the chargers and how they look but what really intrests me is the V6 with an 8 speed tranny which sounds like a hell of an idea to bring into the world of MPG's. Has anybody owned of of these yet and seen what these new chargers are getting?? Im quite intrested in the mileage because i do mostly highway driving because of my job. Also is there any major concerns with these cars or problems there known for? Any information would be most appriciated. Thanks ahead of time guys!!!!

front end take a crap after few years. But since u r mostly highway/flat road driving, you should be ok. Take it for a test drive, these are nice car for it's price.
MPG wise, I am going to say high 20s on the highway. But this is a extremely heavy car.

I think the 9-spd is a Dual Clutch trans for Front wheel drive cars.

I'm in the same boat as the original poster; think I'm going to trade in my '08 Ram for the Charger SXT. I drove a new 300 Limited with that new V6/8spd setup the other day, and damn that is one sweet driving car. They didn't have a similar Charger on the lot, so when I got home I got to looking online at some of the other dealers in the area. I was still debating on getting a 300 when I came across the pics of the Charger SXT Blacktop; I immediately fell in love with the car. Looks like you can pic up one of those bad puppies for a little over $27k right now, plus I get the Chrysler friends and family discount. As soon as I start my new job, I'll be trading in my trusty RAM for a new Batmobile. I'd love to hear from someone who owns one.

I just purchased a 2012 SXT PLUS Rallye 8 speed V6. I actually traded in a Hybrid that got 50mpg on the freeway, crazy I know, but with a car like that one gets VERY bored. Not to mention the features rivaled those of a civic dx...back when they still made those.

Anyway, I just bought it last week and on a brand new engine was getting 31.5 mpg on the freeway, i get about 20 around town, but am putting in a cold air intake and exhaust tomorrow..will see what that does.

I did not want to get the R/T because of the gas prices, and really, i dont feel like i am missing much by getting the SXT. I paid just under 30K and this car has the works! Make sure you get the better leather...some of the cars i looked at had a thinner leather (napa?) and one car already had a tear in the seat. I got the perforated leather. If you drive in Sport mode the car has a lot of power! The 8 speed tranny feels like it shifts a lot during the first 4 or so gears..then you dont really notice.

I am very happy with it, even though my car payment, insurance and gas went up! It is a very substantial car and the features are incredible!

I agree with you on the V6/8speed combo. I was looking to get better gas mileage than the truck I traded in (2008 Ram Quad Cab Hemi), and when I drove the '12 V6 I knew I had found what I was looking for. I ended up with a '12 SXT Blacktop Edition, and once the thing gets moving I've got all the power I want. The car is a joy to drive and the Blacktop package is a real head turner.
