Default CAI Question

I got a 2008 Charger SRT8, i'm trying to figure out if installing a Mopar CAI will actually give me better performance and gas mileage than the stock setup. I have heard that the amount of engine heat it sucks in doesnt equate to better mileage or performance. Am i better off just staying stock?

I also have a Diablo Sport Tuner and I tuned it to 91oct with CAI, didnt notice much of a difference.

Actually the stock air box on the SRT 8 is better utilized then most CAI systems. There are several threads with modifications to the stock air box that help improve air flow on the CF's. Unless you're looking for some noise under the hood, I'd leave the stock air box, or modify it.

The 93 octane canned tune will help the most, in regards to performance enhancements. I'd look into a CMR tune, ether a local performance shop, or via email tune. Typically a experienced tuner will be able to add any where from 20-25 rwhp, especially with an SRT, even being stock.
