Default Engine cover on bottom

Is that thing really necessary? I'd like to do my own oil changes and saw it under there. Is there much to removing it once I get the car on jacks? Thanks.

Don't have the Charger but have a Magnum. More than likely the same. If it is remove the screws that hold the front belly pan to the front bumper on the bottom and the screws/bolts at the rear of the front belly pan. Then remove the screws/bolts from the rear belly pan and you should be there. Hope this helps.

Sounds like it is an easy remove for changing oil. However I wouldn't want to remove it permanently. It sounds like it acts as a "skid plate" and I would much rather have it take the abuse instead of sending rocks and who knows what up into the oil pan and other components down there.
