Unhappy 2006 Charger SXT Has heat but frosts up

I have a 2006 dodge charger SXT. The engine warms up and produces great heat. The problem we are told is that the blend door from fresh air to recirculate is broken and therefore we cannot get any fresh air into the car. We can defrost the entire car in freezing so that the windows are all defrosted and tehn drive 5-10 blocks and we are all frosted up in the INSIDE. Only way we even attempt to drive in cold Canadian winter is to crack open the windows while driving in attempts to rid the car of the excess moisture being produced inside. The dealer wants $1500 to replace the entire heating box but I am looking at a quick fix. Does anyone know if we can see or gain access to this door and just secure it to be opened in the fresh air mode.

Thanks for any impute. Any diagrams, helping me find the area with the blend door from fresh air to recirculate, is will be greatly appreciated.

Heat doesn't defrost, ur A/C is what gets rid of moistures.
question, is there any Air coming out of the Windshield vent? If not, then perhaps ur dealer is right. You probably have broken door. And replacing those doors requires taking whole Dash out, is a 1 day job.
If there is Air coming out of the windshield vent, then your problem is with the A/C system. Make sure you have Freons in it. Recir or Fresh air mode have no effect on Defrost.

We get regular full air through the windshield vent. It is hot. If it is the A/C system, what could be wrong with it, how do we diagnose this problem properly as our dealership has no clue what is going on. The dealership said they had a mecahnic reach up under the dash and feel for the blend door closing and couldn't feel it move, hence why we were told to replace the heater core. Are you saying that the A/C will not remove the moisture if the freon is down?

Right, If Freon is Low, A/C will not engage. There could be something else wrong with it, but low on Freon is the most common cause.
Just turn on the A/C, and see if the compressor engage. (If you don't know where/how to look, try Youtube or Google). Or try to just flat out use A/C and Defrost together.
