you are the only person whom i have ever heard call a mustang a tang...dont you mean "stang"?
what is done to your 95 gt, and what does it run...
the srt8 has an advertised 425hp, but that has been proven to be under rated...

So what does one need to do to a Charger Daytona to allow it to shed a layer of rubber like that?

Let's say the car gets 18Mpg and 18K per year...
$3.00 for 1gal = 18 mile
$30.00 for 10gal = 180 miles
$300.00 for 100 gal = 1,800 mile
$3,000 gal for 1000 gal = 18,000 miles
For a poor college student who can't spare more then $5, wouldn't cheaper gas saving you hundreds, be a positive for you? Unless it's the complaining you're complaining about. I think it does get annoying hearing to people complain about gas prices, especially on the news, but they have every right intention and good reasons too.. Just my 2 cents.

gas isn't expensive, i hate how everyone ****s a brick about it.

25mpg - 18mpg = 7 miles for each additional gallon of gas.
If your student drove 15,000 miles per year (a reasonable average) that would equate to
Charger = 15,000 \ 18 = 833 gallons of gas.
Honda = 15,000 \ 25 = 600 gallons of gas.
233 gallons of gas at $3.00/gallon is $699.00 / year extra to drive the Charger.
So it is an extra $58.50 / month ($14.62/week) to drive a charger with 340hp vs a honda with 200 (or so). Alot of money, but not enough to base a $30,000 car purchase on.

Edit was due to my lacking math skills..

PS - I stand by the previous point, gas is an expense, but its not worth basing the car you purchase and have to live with on.

i bet the srt8 charger will smoke a mustang gt though

Ummm yeah....without a doubt
The question asked here in this whole thread was the comparison of a Mustang GT vs. Charger R/T though
well of course the charger is going to be a more luxurious ride its a 4 door large sudan. But the mustang is quicker (not by much) the charger is 4031lbs with 340HP and 390Torque and the mustang is a mid size coupe 3450lbs 300HP and 320Torque. i would go with the charger myself.
I almost bought the Ford Mustang. I really did like the looks, and after coming back from an Auto-X course watching a new 2005 Mustang win in its class and get third overall, I was very impressed. Of couse, the Canadian driver was awfully awfully good and threw the Mustang around the cones like most other wanted to... but the car was most impressive.
But I am 6-4 and like a big car. I had the big Fury's and I owned a 1971 Plymouth GTX -- a two door. But the two doors, to me, were a pain. I always had to unbuckle my seatbelt to let my kids go in and out, or friends, or shopping items. Also, the two doors were LONG. Sure the car had great looks, but practicality suffered.
Then Dodge comes out with this Charger 4 door. What's not to like? Most people like the lines and with the Daytona stripping, don't notice the rear doors much, and when they do, don't mind the looks. The practical aspect of the four doors is huge. I appreciate them more and more. I also like the rear seat fold down ability. Sure opens up the trunk for those special occasions.
As you can see, I love my Charger and the Hemi engine doesn't hurt either. I saw where you said I'll loose money faster with a Hemi than a V6. Maybe. Maybe not. Frankly, I don't care -- I love my Daytona for it's big car-ness, ride comfort, and good looks. I may not beat the Mustang in the quarter, but I'm NOT far behind and do it in much more comfort.
Buy the Charger.
