Default Exaust Suggestions

Hi guys. My Girlfriend is working on a getting a charger daytona R/T and we are looking for some exaust suggestions. Prefer a nice throaty sound, but not too loud, and not too expensive. Also, what did you guys pay for your daytona R/T with just about every available option. Did you get employee pricing etc... Thanks Dan

Welcome Dan (and girlfriend). I agree with the others, before making any purchases towards changing the exhaust of your GF's Daytona, you HAVE to hear the real thing first. I got my Daytona just over a week ago and it already has a nice throaty sound to it. The idle sound is a bit muffled but you certainly can hear it when standing behind it. The cabin is nice and quiet though. However, when you get on it, go WOT, or even let the revs go up high using the manumatic, it'll sing loud and clear. I have also heard that as time goes on and the (fiberglass or steel wool) packing they use in the main muffler gets old and burned that the growl will only get louder.

Personally I am going to be setting aside a "piggy bank" account so that I can save up for an exhaust replacement a year or two down the road. Plan on putting in headers, high-flow cats and a high flow cat-back system (have not made my choice yet).

For headers I am planning on the ceramic coated Dynatech long tubes. There are also short tube headers available from Gibson. If you are in California, then your only choice is Gibson since the emission laws there make the long tubes illegal. As for cat-back systems, there are a few to choose from, Borla, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, and Zoomers are the top names that I have heard about.

Do your shopping online and learn about each of those, but please wait until you've actually heared the Daytona before making any cash involvement. You may be surprised with the stock sound.

Edit: forgot question about price.

Dan, I have sunroof, Electronics Convenience Group, Sound Group II, GPS NAV, Sat Radio and paid invoice + 1000. If you want exact number PM me and I will break it down for you.

Thanks guys. Well, we have heard the factory exaust and it does have a nice rumble to it but just not enough. I guess what i am looking for is someone that has put on an aftermarket exaust, what kind, and are they happy with it, and would it void the warranty. Also, we were thinking of the "Top Banana" yellow, but was told it is not out yet? Does anyone have any inside info on this? Dan

yeah yellow will come. they are doing all the orange first then doing all yellow, so if you want yellow, it gives you more time to try to find someone who has changed teh exhaust. maybe just flowmasters would add to the sound.

It is 4000 of each color for the US and 200 of each color for Canada.

Hi - I just took delivery of my awesome Daytona (1917 of 4000 - I guess they will be running out soon!). I love the sound when you get on it, but compared to a Charger the dealer here had setup with Magnaflows it does sound a bit weak.
I ordered the Borla exhaust through my dealer. They say it has a Mopar part number and will install it for around $800.00 No problem with the warantee for that or the Mopar Cold Air Induction that they will install at the same time.

Has anyone else tried this setup yet? I'm looking forward to some adrenaline pumping sound to come out of this once it is all installed.

Greg
