Did A tare down today on a 2007 3.5 90k mi for a loud lifter noise, on the drivers side only (stethoscope narrowed down to noise under valve cover). car sounded like a diesel when cold ticks loudly when warm. inspection found: Cam normal, rollers normal, lash adjuster faces and valve stems normal. Engine oil internal condition: very very Clean, Car was well taken care of. could not compress any lash adjusters with my fingers. the shaft will not spin. dowel pins NOT broken. The rocker shaft will rotate on the pins about 3 degrees and slight play side to side. Is this play Normal. or do those dowel pins prevent all movement between the caps and the shaft.
