Default Transmission levels

I've been leaking (small amount) a little bit of tranny fluid from the trans. adapter on my Charger. I had a tranny flush done on May 2014 and a few days ago during cold weather I noticed a slight slip in the morning hours, so I decided to put in about 16 oz. of fluid. When I took it to the dealership, the tech said the tranny was 28 oz low, and he replaced the adapter and refilled the trans. What is the likelihood that any damaged has been caused? The tranny is working fine, no slipping. I mean...I've had the car for two years, It hadn't slipped before and I don't know how long that small leak has been there.

Why did you add only 16 oz if it was over a quart low? Did you check the level before and after adding? If the transmission is working fine now, then it's probably ok. I'd check your fluid level more often though.

Because it is a non serviceable transmission, and the dealer said that overfilling it could cause damage as well.

Ah. Gotcha. I actually hate that. My Journey and Mustang are the same way. Can't check the #@!% transmission fluid level myself.

You can get a dipstick for them, either B&M, Mercedes or just take a really long wire tie (thisis what I used). Problem is you need to be able to accurately measure the trans temp to bounce it off the chart in the manual. That's why they made it so you couldn't check it and had to take it to the dealer.
