rt vs srt
next year I will be shopping for a used charger 2006 to 2011 model years are my price range. Want an rt or srt. Have not driven a srt or rt but I have driven the v6 and know I don't want it. I'm use to boosted cars so the v6 will not have the power I want. boosted cars are nice if you stay off boost...mpg is pretty good.
i'm lame to ask a fuel mileage question for a performance car...do I need the srt...is the extra 75hp worth the premium fuel? Does the rt have enough power? Will the srt get the same or close highway mileage on premium as the rt on regular gas. The epa ratings show the srt getting the same mileage as my 2500 hemi truck.
The use for this vehicle will be once a week driving into the city...200mile round trip.

Go big or go home. You are correct, it’s lame to be worried about mileage when it comes to performance cars. I’m also looking at a Charger. The 2019’s look really sharp. I’m getting the SRT and in all my researching, mileage is the least of my concerns. The 5.7 has plenty of power. My son has it in his 2016 Challenger. It’s a stout engine. I just want big. Lol

Good Luck, don't get anything less than what you want............
I have a boosted truck and a 2013 R/T Plus. When I see an SRT I get a little green but the R/T (daily driver) does what I want. I'm not a stop light launcher, I do lots of highway and the ( DLCS) 2.65 Rear Axle Ratio and (SDDS) Sport Suspension options are well suited for it.
I had it Dyno Tuned @Performance Engineering Marietta GA which gave her added enhancement & pop.
I usually don't waste wear, tear, fuel, or embarrassment on the likes of such (Camaro's Mustangs, Vettes etc) but once I did a 90mph punch with a SRT Challenger's head light a half a car length behind me and he pulled by a few before I surprisingly began to level out and pull on him a tad when my 150mph governor locked me to that. I don't know what gearing he had but he was screaming. We let off at the same time, he got by my window and gave me a thumbs up.
I love this stuff, an old gear head from the muscle car era I owned a 1965 GTO 389 6-pack 4-spd convertible, 1969 302 Z28 m22 4-spd, 1970 Road Runner 440 6-pack 4-spd, 1970 Fire Bird Formula 400 auto, none of them stock, all of them ran into the ground with pure joy, none of them purchased new, If I had them now I would get rich at the MECUM auction. Yes I get senior citizen discounts.

PLENTY of power, fuel mileage isn't too terrible, and the FUN meter is most certainly pegged.
