2007 Dodge charger R/T Vapor Canister
How much of a pain in the butt is it to replace the Vapor Canister? From what I hear it is behind the right rear passenger wheelhouse liner. How does it get removed? Just pry it back to pop the fasteners? I have replacement fasteners. Just trying to judge how long it takes. The repair tech who usually does my work said to get a OEM vs aftermarket so I did. First time to ever have to replace one.
remove the r/r wheel, fender liner, evap hoses and 2 nuts
give yourself approx 1 hour
blow the hose connections with compressed air to remove the dirt, then spray penetrating fluid on the hose connector to make it easier to slide off.
I recommend replacing the esim (if it doesn't come with the canister) and esim filter while you are at it. the filter protects the canister from filling with dirt
you have slow fill problems?

No issues with the slow fill. I do have the issue that after filling up it likes to stall. Told my daughter not to over fill it and stop at the first click.
I have a P code for small evaporation leak. I replaced gas cap. I replaced purge valve on firewall. I had a smoke and soap bubble check but could not find it. The tech said the connector that is on the evap canister is loose and should be tight and that might?? be the issue. So I ordered the new evap canister with pump and the works. Just want to plug and play and see if it gets rid of code. If not, I will take it to the dealer. Hope it is not the vent in the gas tank that is expensive.

The hard start after filling was most likely a leaking purge valve.
the 07 shouldn't have a leak detection pump. it should be an esim system.
you should run the engine until the purge valve opens....this should close the esim...check the scan tool data...if the esim doesn't close...jumper the esim connector pins...if the esim shows closed on the scan tool now...replace the esim switch and esim filter. if the switch doesn't close with the jumper...you have a wiring problem.
you should be replacing the esim filter with the canister.

What is the ESIM filter? Is it a part that is in the canister? Mopar part 4578366AF Vapor Canister $299. was ordered and I am thinking it is the canister, valve, and everything that is needed. I am glad to hear that the 07 does not have the issue with the value in the gas tank which the 06 and earlier models had. I have 230k on it and things are starting to wear out.
the esim switch which can be bought separate from the canister. the esim switch must close for the small leak test to pass. clear the code. the small leak monitor takes one week to complete a test. it also is temp dependent; it won't run it the temp is to cold.

Just an update. I swapped out the cannister with evacuation pump and the code for the small emission leak has went away. Unfortunately now I just got a new code (P0420) for bank 1 cat. converter. I replaced the right hand side in March when I got the bank 2 code. Cannot complain with 229k miles on it.
