Default budget cam?

I have an '06 police charger with a 5.7L. I'm in the process of rebuilding and am looking for an inexpensive street cam. Any suggestions?

Now there is a loaded question.... Cams simply are not cheap. See if you can find what the specs are for your existing cam, and compare it to other motors. (did the cop motor even GET a different cam???) Keep in mind, changing the cam is rather significant. The PCM can tolerate a bit of a difference, but, in order to get the most out of it, you need a tune to go with it as well. Which makes it "Not Cheap".

Define inexpensive....new cams are well beyond $350 and most are more than $400. Plus there are the supporting parts you need to add. With stock heads and an aftermarket cam that's 16 6.1 exhaust springs and a set of 6.1 pushrods at minimum; timing chain (at least the tensioner) and a replacement oil pump are always a good idea. Will also need a custom tune. Bout the only somewhat inexpensive new cam you find is an OEM 6.1 cam. You can actually run that cam without tuning the car, though you'll still need the springs and pushrods, as well as the other two being a good idea.
