[poll] Charger R/T or Charger SRT-8
agreed im only 16 and i agree that no 16 yr old needs a hemi (except me! lol jk i dont have a hemi) i would start my son off (when i have kids) on a 6 or 4 cylinder if it was a car. if he gets a truck it will be different because even with a v8 in a truck it wouldnt be fast. now i wouldnt get him a truck with a hemi i would get the 4.7 or w/e dodges small v8 of the time is. i used to think i was an experienced driver because i could handle the truck well keep it in the lanes, negotiate traffic, park the huge thing pefectly in the lines (something most ppl still cant do) and back out of parking spaces with ease. it wasnt until i started driving on my own (i didnt even realize it when i had my permit cuz my dad was there to watch out for stuff) and almost got into several collisions due to ppl pulling out in front of me, pulling into the turning lane i had just moved into and not accelerating to merge but sitting there talking on there cell phones ppl not paying attention and trying to move into the turning lane where i was sitting waiting for a chance to make a turn that i realized theres a lot more to driving than vehicle control. you have to pay attention to other drivers. split second decision making is the most important part of driving. ive only been driving by myself for less than 6 months and am not claiming to be experienced. but since my dad drilled into me the importance of always paying attention to other cars around you when your driving i have avoided several collisions that would not have been my fault. i cant even stress enough how important it is to always pay attention. and dont trust your mirrors when making lane changes always check your mirrors and then glance behind you because no matter how you set your mirrors there will always be a blind spot.
srt-8 more power is better BUT 12 (srt-8)miles gpm to 17-19 gpm (r/t)
makes a big diff.
i drove the srt before the daytona it was fast and you can really do a burn out. but driving the daytona many eye's were turned.even a gut on a hearley said that a real nice looking car. and thats a good car when you get those guy's to look at your car.
plus i can make her just as powerfull for less than the differance in price.
plus i'v got a 73 charger 440 475 hp,thats enough power for the street.
so i say daytona r/t.

Buy a new one. Believe me, hastling with a carburetor choke on cold mornings, fouling spark plugs, timing, plus a million things that can (and will) go wrong with an old school Charger isn't worth it. I sold my 1971 GTX for a new Daytona and haven't missed it one bit. An old car is an old car no matter what. Get a new techno Charger and enjoy the better ride, good performance, much better mileage and air conditioning, all while under warranty. Don't look back -- look forward.

Classic cars are nice but cars today are so much more reliable. Even though we may wish for the glory days of Detroit muscle there were still all the issues mentioned to conntend with. You spent a good time doing maintennance for every 500 miles driven. In cars today you can drive tens of thousands of miles with only needing to change the oil every few thousand miles or so. Old school Chargers, Challengers, Mustangs, etc. are good for the collector that likes to take them to shows or drive on a nice weekend. Those classics are not good everyday "grocery getters" compared to what's available currently.
