Fuel tank venting
Heyall, I am finally getting my 2006 Charger R/T on the road for the first time since I bought it and completed extensive overhaul. While raising the fuel tank, I slipped and broke of the connection for the fuel tank vent. It's the line that goes from the filler tube to the white valve/vent. I carefully glued in a piece of brass tubing to splice the original tube back on, and fit everything back up.
When I went to the gas station for the first time, the pump keeps kicking out. It will take fuel, but slowly.
I know the check valve ball on the filler tube is good, so I am assuming the vent tube I repaired isn't passing enough air. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a solution, since I understand this is not a serviceable part. I was thinking about drilling into the highest point of the tank and installing a small barb fitting, basically just to relocate the vent line away from the valve thing. Does this make sense? Better solution?
I am running out of money to spend on this car right now. If I can sort this out for a 50 cent piece then I'd be happy about that.
Thanks!
