Default 2008 Dodge Charger SRT8 struggles to get out of park

The issue is that Sometimes the car wont go out of park into reverse. Sometimes it goes into reverse right away. Other times I find myself turning the car off and on a few times before the car finally wants to go into reverse. What can the issue be? I dont think the 08+ cars have that pink shifting piece, right? I always manage to get it into reverse eventually and the car drives smooths and shifts smoothly once running.

Welcome to the forum. Is the issue that the shifter won't shift out of park to reverse, or an issue that the lever stops at Reverse but the transmission doesn't engage? A bit more details of the issue will help folks offer useful suggestions.

Thank you ! The issue is that the car struggles to get out park to go into reverse . I hit the brakes, but the shifter is like locked and won’t go into reverse . So I turn the car off and then back on to see if the it lets me go into reverse . Sometimes it does it on the first try, but other times it can take me up to 3-4 times of turning the car off and on .

Do you hear the shift interlock solenoid click when it works? Do you hear it when it won't?

Also, check your brake lights to see if they are all lighting up when you're unable to shift out of park.
