I have a quick comment about the exhaust question. I have a daytona and the factory exhaust is outstanding. It has awesome sound without any extra noise and it performs quite well. If you car has a different system, it might be worth your while to look into getting. Quite a few on this site have replaced their factory Daytona exhaust and might make you a good deal.

Something to be aware of while making all of these mods, you may be robbing Peter to pay Paul. When a modification is made, it could and probably does lower performance in some areas in order to raise other areas. You will notice that header/exhaust manufacturers will never show Dyno performance below 3500 rpm. This is because in many cases the increase in top end performance is offset by a big loss in bottom end performace. This loss affects the day to day driveability of the car. Instead of the relatively flat power curve that Dodge delivered to you, you are modifying the top end for a greater peak. This can be best demonstrated by 4 valve per cylinder heads vs 2 valve heads. Anyone who has driven a 4 valve head will agree that the extra breathing enhances the top end, but leaves the low end severly lacking.

Anyone agree?

MoparMike,

Clever guy you are!! You know the definition of 'GOOD BUSINESS' is that everyone walks away a winner....

Yes, I have driven several Daytona Package Chargers and the sound is absoultely tolerable to me and more importantly the other half, while is just literally an animal when you get into it, let's say a sleeping animal you wake up on command...... Great idea dude!!!

You know, I may be wrong, but that's the primary/only reason that the Daytona Package receives the extra 10HP rating... The Daytona Package exhaust is literally the same exhaust you can opt for with the Road & Track Option on a regular Charger R/T.... Literally a Charger R/T with the Road & Track option is the Daytona Package without the decals and other appearance items, however, the performance aspects in everyway are exactly the same......

So a guy who would like an additional 10HP for his Charger R/T via the exhaust finds the guy who upgraded their stock Daytona Package Charger and now has an exhaust system taking up space..... By the way he would love to offset some of his upgrade cost(s) while the guy who wants the extra 10HP wants a deal.................... Good Business or what!!!!

MoparMike, you have just set in motion a great solution that is definitely Good Business........

So, I must ask: When are you going to upgrade your Daytona exhaust system?? HAHa!!! Just kidding dude, sincerely a great idea...

I must tell you, I have been around hot cars most of my life.... The reason I tell you this is not to impress, but rather to compliment Dodge/Mopar because the standard Charger R/T factory dual exhaust system is really very-very good for a factory system...... This also tells me that the Daytona Package exhaust system must be just outstanding, you know....

Thanks so much...

Neal

Trooper Mike, when you guys get those Hi-Po Police Pkg Hemi Chargers, you'll have to tell us how they are vs your Daytona. It'll be interesting to a lot of us having a first hand account of the differences. If the ECU is different for the Police Pkg and lets it run harder, etc. I remember in the old days when the CHP had their 440 Dodge Polaras -- those things you scare the you know what out of a guy. LOL, man, would they go!

Ok. You have your assignment...

IXLR8,

We are on the same page dude? I absoultely agree and I save you the pain of telling you all my reasons why I agree.... trust me!! It would be long and boring...

The only comment that I will make is that acheiving remarkable top end performance is the easiest on the list and the majority of today's bolt on mods do just that "only" (maybe not literally, but close) and unfortunately some of those mods bite you on the low end........

You need to kinda of decide early on which direction you are going.... I lean towards the low end, stoplight to stoplight, I dig a car tha can really pull hard on the very low end and even more so from a 15- 20 mph running jump.....

I shouldn't admit this at my age, but in my solo monkey business on an occassional saturday night I will play with the youngsters...... I never get a chance to shift into third in my Charger R/T for even a moment because I have either ran out of real-estate or there is an obstacle, such as traffic.... Pretty bad, huh, I should know better..... what can I say, it's in the blood and there is no cure....

When I get rid of this pile 06 Ford Crown Vic police interceptor(which takes all day to get past 120 mph), Hopefully I'll be switching into a Charger. One could only dream of[sm=gears.gif]in a patrol car.
