2-cents worth additional stuff...
Dodge, from the factory claims the Charger R/T 5.7 rings in at 340 HP..... Realistic, DUNNO....
I do not have access to a DYNO, but based on my setup mentioned in my just recent previous post, I beleive on the conservative side that I am putting out a honest 357 - 362 HP range and have increased the torque to something in the 402 - 405 ft lbs range.....
Does anyone have experience with a similar setup with some hard data on the increaed HP and Torque??? Hey! I am a technical guy and I would really like to know.... How much increase exists with a K&N CAI??? How much increase exists with a SuperChip high performance tune??? How much increase exists with both working in synergy???
Just curious.....

Cooder, welcome to the board, and congratulations on your new Charger!
You didn't mention if you had changed the exhaust system any. I think most of us feel we are getting a little more HP and torque than you think. But, probably better to be on the conservative side. However, I usually tell people I'm pushing close to 400HP.
I'm in Albuquerque, so the altitude robs me of quite a bit of HP and torq. I'm looking forward to hopefully making a trip to the midwest soon so I can see how mine runs in some good, heavy air and low altitude
.
Again, welcome aboard.

Welcome Cooderdog, glad to see you aboard for the ride.
Hang onto your socks; these numbers are going to make you go huh... Here are numbers I have seen posted in various places on different peoples dynos, actual scanned in dyno graphs. Like yourself I haven't dynoed yet.
* * Note * * Remember that there are different dyno's and they also report the end numbers differently.

Dave,
Thanks for the Welcome and your reply......
No to any exhaust mods.... I have only installed the K&N CAI and have the latest updated High Performance tune from SuperChip with a few minor open those airway(s)s hose changes to the motor (increasing the ID here and there).....
Previously mentioned, I did select the High Performance option for the SuperChip tune running 91 octance fuel with a bottle of octane booster at every fillup....
The only items I opted not to do in the tune was "no to raise shift points" and "no to hold in gear" only because the "rev limiter" does create a diminishing return regarding performance when you say yes to these specific options...... When SuperChips does finally get around to curing this problem I will opt yes to both because I do beleive at my altitude (sea-level) there is little bit more to be gained...
I will tell you that I played around with the speed limiter and a definite relationship to the rev limiter exists, not linear by any means, but they are related in someway...
Yesterday, when I was talking to SuperChips they did tell me that they experienced many similar problems with the their truck HEMI tunes... Understand, I am not upset with SuperChips by any means because I do understand technical issues and how complex they can become.... plus, just like you and me, they are really a bunch of nice guys telling you like it is... It's just, as a true technical guy, I want to see these items literally work, simply because it is meant to be, you know.....
The exhaust thing scares me to death.... Obviously, I do know there is Performance to be gained with such a simple change and I want to do it, but I am very worried about the sound level..... I love the factory setup because at idle you can't even hear the car and when cruising around town, especially with the family, the sound level under normal driving conditions matches the luxuary ride quality just perfectly, but seriously wakes up on command.... The last thing I want is a never ending loud noise and/or drone in such a nice ride, I seriously don't like that noise anymore (the age thing, 51 these days) and I certainly don't want to put myself in a position that I would never hear the end of it with my wife, you know... Plus I like the 'Black" Charger HEMI look combined with it's factory sound, it really is a sleeper, a wolf in sheep's clothing.... A car pulls up next to you looking at your family sedan and hears nothing special, boy is this unexpecting victim in for a real eye opener..... I dig it!!!!
Now I must ask the question, do you and /or anyone have any suggestions for a high performance exhaust system that is very-very gentle on the noise side, similar to the factory that does wakes up on command...... You know that most after-market performance exhaust systems or at least in my experience really are too loud in all modes, nothing wrong with that because most people want the noise..... Please pass on any suggestions that you may have.......
I must add one more thing, I have driven cars that do seem choked and/or clogged due to the exhaust.... You literally feel it, just too much back pressure, but with the Charger's factory exhaust system I don't feel that at all, though I do know it does exist to a degree, but again I really don't feel it.... This thing seems to breath just fine, which tells a part of me that yes you will gain some performance, but not as much as you may think and/or you would on most other cars.... Bottomline, the factory setup is pretty GD good considering it is factory......
Again thanks, you and others have really created a wealth of priceless knowledge..... just too cool......

I had the same exhaust criteria and I went w/Corsa. Look at Zoomers or Cora, either will keep that cabin noise level down.
Both are expensive, wait for a group buy or sale to bring the price down for you.

MangoInTx,
Thanks for the reply and info.....
I am old school, been around the block with Hot Cars most of my life and the numbers you mention "RW" I think are very reasonable (meaning beleivable) and without saying are great performance numbers for "RW" if you can actually plant it to the ground to which these new Chargers do a very good job......
I was just curious to some actual hard data and you have provided...... Thanks.......
On a funny, but serious note, forget the Dyno...... My butt dyno tells me that these Chargers with HEMIs even if they put out only 10HP "RW" are seriously fast family sedans without question...... Great value for your money with all considered!!!!!
Thanks,
Neal

Neal, well, we're close in age - but I got ya beat by almost 9 years (60 in January)
I put the Magnaflow system on my car - but it does have a droning when the MDS kicks in. Now, I don't mind it and in fact, hardly notice it. Others say the droning in their cars almost drives them crazy. I don't' know if its a difference between the R/T and Daytona or not. I do agree that the factory system is a pretty darned good system. I kind of found this out AFTER I put the Magnaflow on. [
] Don't know if I'd do it again or not. But I do like it.
What have the guys at SuperChips told you, specifically? I know there are some serious cars out there with tuning that we have not been privy to, yet.
I agree, these cars are very, very nice. Say, what kind of tires does yours have on it. Mine has Continental, and the ride in mine is not what I'd call plush, and in fact is a little harsh at times. I'm beginning to wonder if it's the tires. I have the air pressure at about 28 cold. That helped some - coming down from the recommended (I think) 32.

Dave,
My Charger came with Goodyear 'Assurance' and frankly I have never heard of 'Assurance' until just now when I went and looked.... I am running 32 PSI on all..........
Hate to tell you, but my ride is as close as you could get to plush without actually being plush..... Seriously, it has the literal luxuary car ride comfort.... I have a good freind that has a fairly new Mercedes family sedan and the comparison of our vehicles regarding ride comfort is remarkable..... My Charger does have just a slight bit more road noise and/or cabin noise, but very slight..... The actual ride though, can't tell the difference, certainly not a $35,000 difference.... My Charger absorbs all the bumps, holes, and dips just as well as his mega Mercedes.....
Of course, the ammenities in his Mercedes blows my Charger away with all the woodgrain and leather door panels, but under the hood and performance, the Charger more than makes up for those ammenties, it simply just blows his doors off without any effort....
Yes, the tires has to be the difference with our rides..... Being old school yourself you know that tires do make a world of difference in ride quality as well as road surface noise..... I have always been a fan of Michelen tires, they make a tire that they literally call the quiet ride for both passenger cars as well as trucks, performance though, DUNNO.....
Hope this helps......

Dave,
Sorry, I didn't address the SuperChip question you had.....
Well, I actually got the tuner before I took delivery on the car, as mentioned thanks to this forum I had a masterplan.... Anyway, at 500 miles I installed the High Performance Tune and simply it made the car a completely different car, in a positive way, I do endorse and recommend this product.... The synergy between the High Performance Tune and the K&N CAI is nothing short of stunning, the Charger woke up and it just simply hauls.....
Anyway.... The raising of the shift point to 6250 just simply does not work, the rev limiter kicks in totally negating that performance increase, actually it is a performance decrease..... Also, the hold in gear option is also of almost no use because of the rev limiter, of course you can still manually shift before you hit the rev limiter and dependant upon where you had set your speed limiter somehow determines where the rev limiter kicks in..... The relationship between the two is not linear..... The most RPM I could get before the rev limiter kicked in was approximately 6,000, well short of the 6250 shift point.......
Anyway.... I have spoke with SuperChip on several occassions now regarding the problem.... Mind you, I have not talked with them with some kind of attitude and/or as an unhappy customer.... I am a happy customer and we just have a problem that I know is not unique to just me and with time and customer input will be cured.......
Regardless, SuperChip informed me that they had a similar problem with the truck SuperChip and after sometime they have now got that straightened out... However, they told me that they have just now started to hear about the Charger problem. The 6250 shift point had been on hold until the truck problem was resolved..... Now that the truck problem has been resolved they had just recently (several months back) added the Charger 6250 shift point only to now hear that issues are present.....
Is this a line of BS??? I really don't think so.... Can it be resolved??? Yes, most definitely.....
You know, even if they do resolve the 6250 shift point issue I don't really know if I would use it..... meaning I can't get there to check it out and maybe it is a mute point..... I do know that the guys that live in higher altitude cities are not going to benefit anything by rasing shift points only because they will stop making power long before it gets to 6250......
The bottomline.... I want the 6250 shift point raised and it works so that I may see when exactly my HEMI stops making power..... This now leads to my end result.... I want the ability to be able to set shift points just as I now have the ability to set the speed limiter.....

Neal, I agree. I wish we could set the shift points as we can the speed limiter.
Having said that, I have not ever hit the rev limiter. I had my speed limiter set to 140, and never hit it - it would rev to the 6250 shift point, but as I said, it stopped pulling well before that. I have now set the speed limiter to 150, but haven't raised the shift point, so don't know if it would hit the rev limiter now or not.
