Throttle Calibration
I believe you do have to re-cal prior to each startup. I have one of those cars that refuses to do this trick, despite many attempts, I can't say with 100% assurance.
Hey fellas,
I only have to do it about once every few weeks. My driving habits recognize when I step on the gas pedal I mean GO!. It knows I dont want a lag. Question, when you drive do you drive with both feet ?(use the left to brake and not use the right for both)...I think this makes a difference. Especially when you are backing up. It has a tendancy to mess up the computer. It has happened to me 2 times in my truck. After putting it in drive it had no power at all. I had to turn the vehicle off, wait a few seconds then start it back up to clear out the error. This might be one of your problems.

Why would you be driving an automatic w/ two feet? Just curious?
I can see doing a brake stand to get a good launch. That is what I do after I turn the ac off for a quick run against a car.

I do both, mostly one footed but a little of the two footed thing per BigBananna3796of4000's post. I'll go re-cal again just to be sure it wasn't hu-man error (I resemble that remark LOL).
Most people don't think it, but in law enforcement, your vehicle is a tool. At the EVOC (emergency vehicle operations course) you are taught left brake, right accelerator, plus 9-3 o'clock wheel position. Other speed and high speed manuvers are taught. However, from what I've seen on some of the Cops episodes, many don't have such training. I think most of these tactics are taught to high profile limo drivers, some pursuit drivers, etc, etc. It's amazing how much quicker you are at the wheel and how much quicker the car will react than a standard driver. But again, they were taught to use the car as a tool, just like a baton or Tae Kwon Do. Although I'm not running down felons anymore, I still drive with the tactics I was taught at my first EVOC -- 35 years ago.
That's true. Right foot braking is a throwback from the days when you had a choice of 3-on-the-tree or 4-on-the-floor. There was talk for a while about teaching left foot braking in drivers's ed but it seems nothing came about. Without a clutch, your left foot only serves to keep you in place in a hard right. Why not put it to use? There were some stats floating around that showed that reaction times for left foot braking was quicker.
Had a litte Fiat 128 sedan for a while. FWD, 1100 cc's, redline somewhere in the upper stratosphere (no tach). Would go charging into a corner with the right foot firmly planted. When the front end would start to push, I would keep the right foot down and brake with my left. That would unload the drive forces from the front tire and the nose would just tuck in and keep turning. Used the brake to keep the balance. Scared the snot out of a sales guy when I test drove a new 131
. I found out later the the top Saab ralley drivers also used that technique.
