Default Intake Installed

Finally got the AIRRamHood intake installed last night. Initially I was shipped the wrong hood (it vented to the OEM Airbox), After contacting them a couple weeks ago the new hood arrived yesterday. Got the hood and Intake installed, see pic (more pics in the gal).

It's sounds a little different, more of the rushing air noise. Not much if any HP gain. The best thing is it draws air from the scoop which "should" be cooler.

The vents that were running from the shroud to the OEM Airbox will be redirected to blow on the headers.

That is just gorgeous Mango! Now that you have it installed, how do you feel about the quality? It is fiberglass I assume? I think my TB might just need a blacked out version of that...

The first hood I got from RAMAirHood was a little rough. It wasn't finish well, the part I see most, the back side of the scoop some small specs in the paint (not many, but one is too many, guess I'm picky). The color shade was a bit lighter, most people didn't notice but of course I always did.

I got this via group buy on another form so RAMAirHood was probably overwhelmed by the volume. It was order at the first of this year and I received it at the end of February, so their turn around wasn't very good at that time. Communication seemed to be an issue for them as well, I didnt' want to bug them too much so monthly I would e-mail them askeing about progress. It seemed I got the same default response as most others... It's being painted and will be shipped early next week <= which was bogus information at the time.

Recently I got w/them about my having received the wrong vented hood. The communication was much better and it took 2 weeks to get the new hood. Their shipping/wraping of the product was vastly improved. The quality was 100% A-OK. The color match was right on the money.

It is fiberglass and the second hood I got seemed to be a bit lighter although they weigh next to nothing.

I have to add: the OEM hood is kept in the family room off in a corner, when I get gripes about it's presents I threaten to hang it on the wall or make a celing fan out of it LOL

Nice Tex, really nice. Good looks. Is this the company in Florida? Can you modify the seal any to allow hot engine air to escape when it's parked? Any noise from the hood at high speeds?

How's the box -- are you satisfied with the air induction system?

I have to say I really like the hood a lot...

Thanks mnboy.

RAMAirHood is out of FL, their owned by:
APM Automotive
17490 East Street
North Fort Myers, FL 33917
Phone: 239-731-3838
Fax: 239-731-1800

I'm sure it could be modified for the parked/stop-n-go situations. Guess the mod difficulty would depend on how automated a person wanted it to be.

There are no weird vibrations or noises from the hood at any speed.

Other than the size of the intake I’m thrilled. I mentioned in another post that Shaker and RAMAirHood place a lot of plastic in the engine compartment and I’m apprehensive about trapping heat. That’s why I’m rerouting the vent that went to the OEM airbox. As you alluded to in your question above there’s the question “will heat be a factor when parked or in slow traffic.” Haven't see problems yet but I'm haven't really ran it much yet.

I can’t speak for any gains yet, I need to go play w/it.
